We are fortunate to have a Presidential historian join us for a very timely visit to our World Affairs Council. For over 200 years we have been selecting our presidents in a politically driven process….and every elected president sets their own agenda dealing with issues around the World. With our next Presidential election just three and a half weeks away, we not only don’t know who our next president will be, but we wonder what the impact of this age of polarization and extremes will be on our foreign policy? We look forward to hearing what an informed presidential historian can share with us.
Timothy Naftali, a graduate of Yale, Johns Hopkins and Harvard, is a Canadian American historian, and a senior research scholar on International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.
He is a regular contributor to CNN as a Presidential Historian and the author, co-author or editor of 8 books, including the biography of George H. W. Bush in the American Presidents’ series.
